The Creeps by NicklausofKrieg The Creeps by NicklausofKrieg
it kinda donned on me just a few days ago that probably the reason the death korps of krieg are my favorite regiemnt is because i can kinda relate to them 'cause just the other day my bro mentioned to me how his friends were quite freaked out by my quietness when i met them just last week which didn't really surprise me since everyone i've ever known besides my absolutely close friends or family were also quite frightened by me due to my silence but i didn't really give much thought to until recently

which has got me asking what's so scary about quiet people? i mean i've never been the least disturbed by quiet people i myself am quite used to silent company

so here's a quick poster styled drawing featuring imperial guard regiments with krieg being shown as quite distant from the rest of them

and also i dunno why but this drawing also makes think of some sort of band poster or something

I've usually preferred the utterly unquestioning and cold professional sort of attitude in most fiction- Death Korps seems to fit that to a tee, even have the kickass gas masks going on. Seems really odd in retrospect that I haven't looked into them more.

I guess it's since I always find myself gravitating towards Astartes... and they're anything but quiet and cold. Professional in their own way I suppose, I guess I just like the touch of religious fanaticism and knightly/crusader vibe thrown in more.

I really like this.  It's almost as if the Death Korps of Krieg are the outsiders of the Imperial Guard.  Awesome stuff!

The Steel Legion regiment guardsmen also wear gas mask.

But Kregers don't talk unless they are given a official "Permission to speak" form from there Commanding officer or a granted Temporary permission to speak from there Watch officer or higher rank.

that or they are taking the Emperor Mercy from a Quatermaster

of course, Kasrkins are also usually seen with gasmasks too, but they are quite loved rather than feared.

it's more a case of character.

How about the Salvar Chem - Dog. They are nothing more than criminals who were made to fight for the Imperium.

the fact that you said "nothing more than criminals" already says that they may be looked down upon, and maybe even seen as a ragtag lot of screw ups, which some people do see them as. they're criminal scum, and that comes with a set of expectations, they're very readable that way, forget the gasmasks.

the things about the death korps is their cold demeanor you can't read them, and the knowledge that they came from a hellhole, raised to kill, welcome death, and come with an unflinching willingness to do anything to win makes them all the unpredictable, who knows what they'll do to achieve they goals? or what goals they set for themselves?

I like your style you put in your pictures and its good to see more Death Korps of Krieg fans. :)

Also the lines around the Krieg soldiers head for some reason give me the impression that he is shaking. Maybe the Krieg soldier is quiet because he is just shy around others. Am I the only one who sees that?

im silent most the time, most people either ignore me or get creeped out all the same, i like the kriegers because they are: simply german and who doesn't like a good steel helmet and gas mask?

Background's a bit too cheerful for a Krieger don't you think?

Literally anything is too cheerful for a Krieger. They're like that emo phase you go through as a teenager, only they're crazy, have guns, and are scarily eager to get themselves in the name of THEE EMPRAH

I only really talk when I'm around friends or family, when the majority of people that are around me are generally strangers I follow a "don't speak unless spoken to" philosophy.

The thing I think people find scary about quiet people is we like to remain quiet and thus remain strangers, they (talkative people, sometimes annoyingly so) like to get to "know" people, sure one conversation won't be enough to become best friends and know everything about each other but at least it'll give them the basic gist of what the person they're talking to is like. But when you throw someone who sits there saying almost nothing unless asked directly (and even then giving fairly, err... "lacking" answers) they can't cope with it, they're used to talking, they're used to being around people who like to talk and reveal information about themselves, they can't deal with or comprehend for that matter someone who by nature prefers to remain a stranger and not actively engage in conversation, the very though is just unnatural to them.

Maybe it's reminiscent of a band poster (I get that feeling too) because of all the slightly angsty/serious 'I'm trying to be cool and aloof' experssions the characters have. =p

I'm a quiet person as well unless surrounded by authentically close friends or people who can spark very interesting discussions. I'm not exactly standoffish, but I've just always been more of a listener than a speaker. In my past, opening my mouth was like an invitation to get beat up by folks, so I might have just been conditioned like that. I've been told about the disturbing quality of it though. One friend suggested that it was just the whole 'fear of the unknown' thing and perhaps a bit of existential horror. Most people wear their emotions on their sleeves, and can't help but worry about those who don't since they don't provide any sort of emotional feedback.

"If people are like mirrors to one another, then you're like one that doesn't allow people to see their own reflection. Without even trying, you're an anomaly. A void in the room where something ought to be."

Something like that. I can't remember it word for word, and she wasn't trying to be mean if that's what it sounds like heh. She's just very analytical and curt at times. :) PS. that trademark gasmask might have a bit do to with the atmosphere of discomfort heh. I know I'd love to have one though.

but quietness with kriegers is like the orks taking "one size fits all" to the next level. i.e. [link] . take off the mask at least, faces give people personality and help me remember you :)

Nice picture, and you're right it kinda does look like a band line up.

I'm a quiet person too, and according to a friend of mine, people talk about me behind my back assuming I'll turn out to be a serial killer one day. :? Lol. It's probably because I get really emotional, but I'm withdrawn about it, to the point where my emotions just flare to the surface for a second, then get supressed again. When someone annoys me, I'll glare at them for a second, and just go back to my regular face, brushing it off like it was nothing. I prefer to express my emotions more with facial expressions and gestures than with words, and apparently people find stuff like that unsettling. I just find it extremely cool.

It's really better to reserve your emotions, that way when you finally do let them out, it's a lot more meaningful and people can tell you're serious.

Also, on a side note, how goes the comic? Is there any progress?

It is more frightening to see such a Deathkorp with this gasmask which looks so dangerous than a soldier without any helmet.
Also for Civilians is an Astartes with Helmet a very scary Person. But when he shows his real face it is (a little bit) less frightening.

I am a quiet person too. And yeah, some persons are really scared of me.
At least a loud person is much more disturbing than quiet person.
If you are quite, than you are like a ghost. Never disturbing, but frightening.
Such noisy people and people that talk very much are of course much more disturbing.
I prefer a quiet person more than a noisy person.

I must say, it is cool to be quiet. Persons are more interested in you. (mystery)
Also you can be sure if you are quiet than you don't disturb the humans in your near.
And i love it to be quiet. It's just my style.

PS: This time i like the right girl a much more and of course hug her very much.
But it wouldn't stop me to hug the left girl too. ^^

most people see the mordians as either prussians or russians and sometimes depending on the color scheme used some people even see them as either old american marines or old imperial japaneses\ troops which kinda puzzles me as i seem to be the only person i know who sees them as frenchies

what nationality do you think they're based off of?
