there were supposed to be more characters lined up here but they just never really got finished. quite a coincidence these two got finished up though. makes you feel like i'm gonna cover the Zulu wars eh?
the Brit's a redraw of an old character featured in an older character line up.
that Elven Tribewoman though is the product of an idea i just had that made me do the unusual choice of putting elves in Africa. it was mostly inspired by the Maasai warrior culture really, what with their renowned height and agility.

Now this is an intriguing twist on a old idea and quite fitting I think: I imagine Africa had that sort of distant, ethereal and almost mythical appeal to European explorers in the 19th century. As for your British soldier, I've seen both his uniform and a more updated version in the "Mud Cruncher" picture: are they at different points in the timeline or do units in the colonies wear red while the regulars closer to home get khaki?
