Archeotech by NicklausofKrieg Archeotech by NicklausofKrieg
just a techpriest presenting one of his finding after rummaging through a pile of old gear and archeotech (basically it's a cellphone)

if you've watched the movie the "The King's Speech" i guess you'd have some sort of an idea to the inspiration behind this drawing

I love/hate how the Imperium is so... primitive towards tech. If someone invents something, he os she is burned for herecy in 99% of the cases. No wonder the Tau are kicking their asses

not exactly, 99% is a wild exaggeration. so long as it's invented by the Adeptus Mechanicus it's quite alright most of the time, hell, they're even allowed to handle xeno-tech for reverse-engineering! now if it was invented by anyone else, now that's when there's trouble.

and it's not about theological blah blah blah either, from a more practical view it's to maintain the balance of power within the Imperium, the Adeptus Mechanicus has to maintain its monopoly over technological research and the pace of its advancement as stated by the Treaty of Mars.

i don't think the Tau are such a big threat to the Imperium for one to say they're kicking their asses, if they were, the Imperium would be concetrating more on them, instead of other threats like Chaos, Tyranids, or Orks. i've seen imperials shit their pants over the Tyranids, but never the Tau.

Ah, but still, to constrict innovation and invention to one group is a bit like asking to be stale and stagnated.

And yes, while the Tau don't really spend that much time fighting the Imperium, plus they are a small race, the reports speak of a simple Tau-rifle that punched through the armor of a heavy tank in one hit, then sucked the crew out the other side as a long red stain... or did they just mistake the Crisis Battlesuit for a normal rifle?

for an empire as large as the Imperium, shifting its weight is a very costly thing. the internal strife caused by a change in the power balance between the Imperium and Mechanicus is more trouble than its worth. so some technological stagnation is the price.

a load of bollocks if you ask me, must've been some man-portable anti-tank weapon at the very least, perhaps a Battlesuit, but definitely not a "rifle". if they had tech like that, forget their numerical disadvantage, they would've marched straight to holy Terra by now.

Agree, it is simply what I read in a story taking place between Tau and Guards. It is also a vid on Youtube where you learn the lore of Warhammer (I enjoy the game and the universe, but have never played it much) It's a video called "the Tau empire", and a guard is apparently cited for having said that a Tau rifle did that. I agree though, after having played Dawn of War, I doubt a simple Tau warrior can do it.

The Crisis Battlesuit though...
